Love Bug Feb 2013

Feb 2 2013 Looking back over the year it has been a very short and very long trip so far! I think all in all Jake and I have been able to take the challenge of raising Katie with a chill attitude. Katie is a very laid back little girl for the most part, we are so very fortunate for that!

We celebrated her first birthday at Granny’s house. I made her a pink Ladybug cake that had pink frosting, red polka dots and Twizzlers for legs and antennas.

1 year old!

She started out not touching the cake just bending her head down and licking the frosting off the head of the Ladybug, eventually she started grabbing fistfuls and squishing it through her fingers. It was a perfect birthday! Amazing that it has been a year already.

Aunt Lynnsey was brave enough to do a 1/2 Marathon, so we went to Birmingham to cheer her on! It was COLD, but we brought plenty of blankets and hats and gloves and mittens:)

Katie had enough excitement & took a nap while waiting for Lynnsey                                                                 to come around the final bend!

                                                                All smiles at the end!

Feb 5 2013 Dr. Jones says that what Jake most likely had was a massive migraine.  A migraine works similar to how a TIA works, both happen due to closing off of the blood vessels. Jake has an apt to see a neurologist at the end of the month and we will go from there. For now we are trying to figure out an appropriate diet for Jake, low sodium seems to be the way to go, now to figure out what he can and cannot eat, or should not eat rather…

Feb 6 Still waiting on Bug to walk, I am kinda glad she hasn’t walked yet, that means she’s still a baby…right??? She will hold your finger and walk all over the place, and as soon as you start to let go she drops like a rock to the floor or reaches for the nearest wall, chair or object to latch onto.
The nutritionist at the WIC office says that Katie is fat and short. Well, not in as many words, but I had to sign something that said she has inappropriate eating habits!! Their “nutritionist” said that Katie 27 7/8 inches long and 22lbs 13 oz. (she was 28 inches long when we had the checkup in Nov. with Dr. Bo) She was not able to tell me why given that Katie has primarily had breast milk, formula, and fresh fruit and veggies to eat and pretty much nothing else. I even told her how much we fed her and her reply was well that is what the chart that I have says. Seriously! I don’t even know what to say! As soon as Katie has her one year checkup, I am going back to the WIC office and put a piece of paper in their hand that says they are crazy and don’t know what they are talking about!

Feb 13 2013 Katie went to see Dr. Bo for her One Year checkup and she is 30 inches long and 21lbs. Dr. Bo says she is in perfect health and that I need to accept the food from the WIC office, but get advice from them. We are not the first family to have issues with the way the government does things. I wasn’t that worried, more mad than anything, but it is nice to have reassurance from the Dr. that Katie is healthy.

January 2013 Change is upon us

 She loves her baby!

I was trying to get her bedtime routine, I got something different, but it was too cute!

 Girls Rule!

 I Love My Daddy!!

Katie and Sam!

Katie is becoming her own person! Her personality is coming through and it is so stinkin' cute! It is amazing to watch her become less of a baby:( and more of a person:) he is starting to say things and mimic our gestures, babies really are watching EVERYTHING!!!

Kroger is a Scary Place

Jan. 29 2013 Jake gave us all a scare today. While we were at Kroger he started acting funny and not feeling right. His arm eventually stared feeling numb and his leg as well. The nurse practitioner from the clinic in Kroger came over and asked him to smile and only one side of his mouth smiled. By now his speech was not clear and it was time for 911. We thought he was having a stroke so he took a ride in the ambulance. The Dr. at Athens Regional said he either had a TIA, Transit Ischemic Attack or a massive migraine. His symptoms cleared within an hour of starting. Our dear friend Catherine came and picked up Katie and kept her. It was such a huge relief to be able to take care of Jake and not worry about Katie; we knew she was in good hands. We were able to go home finally on late Tuesday evening. We don’t really have a plan of action right now, hopefully when Jake goes to his follow up Dr.’s visit we can get some better answers, the ones we have right now are just not good enough for me.

Jeeps and Christmas Dec 2012

I seriously can not get enough pictures of her sleeping!!!

On Dec 15, 2012 Jake, Katie, Granny, Allie, and I were all a part of the Toys for Tots Jeep ride along with almost 100 other Jeeps. Katie rode in style with Granny and me in her new Jeep while Jake and Allie rode in Jake’s CJ5. We rode from Jefferson and around about way made it to Athens. Katie met Santa (she was not impressed) and Jake won some T shirts. A Great First Ride!

Jake was a very happy Jeeper! Look at all the Jeeps!

                                           No thank you Santa!

Katie's First Christmas:) We enjoyed this Christmas, we woke up before Katie and were able to sit and wake up, Jake was even able to make coffee. We realize this won't be the case every year, but this year was a quiet beginning. Katie till has no idea what the big deal is about. All she knew was when she looked in the big sock she got something to eat and she liked that:)

Granny got the prize for favorite gift in Katie's eyes. Granny got her a baby, she still sleeps with it, she loves her baby! And her Granny too:) Jake and I got her a purse and some blocks and things and she could care less about those, she likes the dog that sings and her baby.

Drummin' like her Daddy:)

Turkey and Kickball Nov 2012

We had Thanksgiving Dinner at Granny’s house. Yummy turkey and pie and green beans and so much more! Ruthie and her Dad joined us, and three other families joined us as well. It was a very Harmon Thanksgiving! The next day, after we had a day to recover, we had dessert with everyone and even the Jones clan joined us! We had the First Annual Thanksgiving Kickball game. Lala (team captain) chased butterflies most of the time, but did an amazing job cheering and kicking. O.J. (team  captain) led his team to a close victory.
It was unanimous that it needed to be a regular event.

Katie loves helping with the laundry

checkin on Sam...I think she thought he ate her necklace...
